Deputy Human Resources Minister says that it is the students’ responsibility to think of their future by choosing the right courses.
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Human Resources Minister Ismail Abdul Muttalib today urged students to choose their university courses wisely so that they won’t end up jobless.
“Students should ensure that the course of study they undertake would enable them to find employment,” he told Parliament.
He said there were too many students graduating from tertiary institutions and the government would not be able to secure jobs for all of them.
However, he added, his ministry had undertaken some initiatives to alleviate the problem.
One such initiative is the holding of career fairs such as the 1Malaysia Azam Career Carnival.
According to research by the Ministry of Higher Education, a quarter of graduates in 2012 had not found employment and about one in five degree holders are unemployed.
