New Human Resources courses teaches HR best practices specifically for Ontario small business

Online and in-class certificate focuses on small business hiring and
retention, onboarding, compensation, performance management, employment
law and more.

TORONTO , Sept. 19, 2013 /CNW/ - The Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) has developed a new
small business HR certificate to help Ontario small business owners,
managers and entrepreneurs learn the HR best practices necessary to
find, motivate, manage and compensate the people they need to grow
their businesses.

The HR Certificate for Small Businesses  consists of eight, two-hour live sessions, available online or in HRPA’s
Toronto Learning Centre. The course runs every Thursday from October 17
– December 5, 2013 & January 16 – March 6, 2014 .

The $499 course is a solid HR primer for small business and includes the
following sessions:

  1. The role of HR and why it is critical to small business
  2. Sourcing and selecting the right people
  3. Onboarding and integrating new hires
  4. Compensating, rewarding and recognizing staff
  5. Conducting motivating performance reviews
  6. Dealing with performance / work behaviour challenges
  7. Employment legislation – what small business needs to know
  8. Ending the employment relationship

Participants are required to complete 5 of the 8 sessions at a minimum
to obtain the Certificate.
