Job Summary

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation has a Human Resources Business Partner position open in The Woodlands, TX office and will be a member of the International HR team.


The successful candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of human resources management experience providing full breadth generalist support to management and employees.

  • International oil and gas industry experience as well as experience working abroad on an expatriate assignment is preferred.
  • Ability to understand issues domestically and internationally and communicate effectively with global clients.
  • A strong understanding of human resources policies, procedures, and processes governing the oil & gas industry.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, employee relations, diversity, performance management and employment laws in international jurisdictions.
  • Takes initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Excellent client management and business literacy skills.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong literacy experience with computer applications such as: MS Access, Excel, & PowerPoint.

Position Responsibilities

This hands-on position is responsible for the delivery of human resources products and services including, but not limited to, workforce strategy and planning, HR communications, HR projects and HR analytics. The incumbent will provide advice and guidance to executives, managers/supervisors, and employees on a variety of HR related matters and issues as well as being responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations. This position will support our International HR Division. Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Primary point of contact with Human Resources for management and employees within designated client group, with emphasis on the analysis and interpretation of human resources policies issues for expatriates and international HR. Act as Human Resources consultant and advise clients on various employee issues such as employee counseling, performance management, personnel movement, and exit interviews.
  • Develop and assist with the implementation of HR programs for international locations.
  • Assist in new country start-ups and capital projects as needed. Maintain involvement with new start-ups or capital projects for an extended period to develop policies, processes, and procedures and handle employee relations issues.
  • Assists client management with employee counseling, coaching, terminations, and investigations of alleged harassment, discrimination or other inappropriate workplace behavior
  • Works towards standardization of process and practices in all areas of Human Resources delivery
  • Facilitates the client’s talent management processes (performance management, succession planning, career development planning) such that the client is provided with prepared, qualified internal candidates and provides employees with career growth opportunities
  • Liaise with compensation, recruiting, global mobility and payroll departments to assist clients with various personnel needs and movements
  • Ensures accurate Human Resource Information System records within client group by actively coordinating HR data management activities within client group.
  • Maintains compliance within client group with all applicable regulations concerning employment
  • Establishes Human Resources visibility and fosters a positive employee relations environment within the client group via field visits and client leadership team participation.
  • Provides workforce data and analysis to client groups and makes recommendations

Travel Requirements

Travel will be required up to 10%


A bachelor’s degree required; Bs in Human Resources or related field preferred; MBA or MS is a plus.
