Head of human resources Barb Daigle leaves University of Saskatchewan

Associate Vice-President of Human Resources Barb Daigle is leaving the University of Saskatchewan.

In a letter to faculty and staff today, Vice-President Greg Fowler wrote this was a “mutually-agreed decision for her to leave her position.”

Daigle is the third high profile official to leave campus after the firing, then rehiring, of Professor Robert Buckingham.

In March, Buckingham, the former head of the School of Public Health, was escorted off campus and told he would be losing his tenure at the university after criticizing TransformUs, a university restructuring plan.

The news sent shockwaves through the academic community, and made national news.

Buckingham was soon offered his job as a professor back.

However, less than a week later, university Provost and Vice-President Academic Brett Fairbairn resigned his job over the matter.

Soon after that, President Ilene Busch-Vishniac was fired by the university’s Board of Governors.

“After considerable discussion and reflection, Barb and I both agree this is in the best interests of the university and for Barb’s own career goals,” said Fowler in a prepared statement.

The university would not give interviews on Daigle’s departure.
